MG3 First Impressions

This week I am driving the MG3 which has certainly been brighter than the weather we've been having as of late! I'm not going to give you the full rundown just yet - you'll need to wait for that - but In the meantime here is a flavour of my experience of the budget hatchback.

I'm not a fan of yellow but the colour looks ok, especially with the contrasting black roof. All round it's a good looking car and it looks far better than one of its main rivals - the Dacia Sandero. This model is the 'Sport' trim which sits underneath the range-topping 'Style'. It's priced at £9,899 and offers good value when you consider what is included.

The inside has a few flashes of red to help give it some colour but on the whole it's a bit drab. The plastics are cheap but you have to remember this is a cheap car, so it'd be unfair to expect an interior to rival a BMW.

It was easy to tell the car's shortcomings after just a few minutes, chief among which is the 1.5 litre engine. It's very rev hungry and even once you've fed it progress is still not what you call brisk. The gearchange is accurate enough but feels low-rent. The car's saving grace is the handling though which is very good.

Well that's enough for the time being, full review and video will come at the weekend. Until then, enjoy the rest of the site!
