Skoda Boasts Superb's Supercar Performance

Ok, so the new Superb's muscular performance may not be enough to beat today's supercars but it can definitely rub shoulders with the exotic cars of yesteryear. Fitted with a 2.0 litre four-cylinder TSI this sensible family car is able to boast 276bhp.

It will reach 0-62mph in just 5.8 seconds, its figures like this which make the Superb the fastest production car Skoda has made. The Czech brand is so proud of its efforts that it's quick to boast the performance on offer is enough to rival classic supercars such as the Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari 308 GTB but without the high price and the drawbacks.

Sure, the Italian supercars are nicer to look at and more impressive to have on your drive but can either car boast a boot size of 660 litres? It will have a considerably cheaper price as well - the hatchback starts from £31,445 and £32,745 for the estate. The 2.0 litre unit can be fitted in SE L Executive, new SportLine and Laurin & Klement trim levels.

To show off the Superb's brawn Skoda has made a film in which the car is pitted against a Mk1 Honda NSX, Porsche 911, Ferrari 308 GTB and a Lotus Esprit. What are the results? Check out the video and see for yourself.
