Renault has extended the Megane family by adding the stylish and sophisticated Grand Coupe saloon. Prices and release date are yet to be confirmed but the French brand has revealed what to expect in regards to engines – depending on the country of course. The new model will be built on Renault’s Common Module Family platform and a result will have the same driving characteristics as the rest of the Megane family.
I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s a fine looking machine and it has some features which are sure to help draw attention to the Megane model. A panoramic roof is installed which connects the windscreen to the rear window and creates a two-tone look in the process whilst the C-structure lights help to define the Megan’s front end styling.
Depending on the country there will be five engines on offer – two petrol and three diesel. The petrol engines on offer will be the SCe 115 and the TCe 130 whilst the diesel line up will consist of the dCi 90, the dCi 110 and the dCi 130. However it’s worth noting that it’s not confirmed which engines will be powering the models that arrive in the UK but that will be confirmed nearer to the Grand Coupe’s release.
Renault say that the new Grand Coupe will be able to boast ‘top-level rear-seat space’ so occupants should be able to make themselves comfortable in the Grand Coupe with ease. The boot will also offer a high level of space and can features ‘Easy Boot Access’ which provides hands-free access to the boot, therefore making it easier to operate when your hands are full – or if you’re simply feeling lazy.
In terms of technology, the Grand Coupe will offer the same level of kit you’d expect in the other Megane models such as a 7” TFT instrument panel, 8.7” touchscreen multimedia system, R-Link 2, Multi-Sense and Easy Park assist. Driving aids such as Advanced Emergency Braking system and Lane Departure Warning system are included to give the driver and occupants added safety.
