Top Gear is now done and dusted for the year so attention has firmly turned to The Grand Tour, the new show fronted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. The trio has been getting along with their business rather quietly if you ask me.

The new show which has a reported budget of a cool £160million opened its doors over the weekend as the first studio segment was filmed in Johannesburg, South Africa. Well I use the term 'studio' a bit loosely as it was in fact a tent.

In fairness, it was a very, very big tent indeed that had been placed in the South African Savannah - that certainly beats the Top Gear studio based in Surrey. Jeremy Clarkson said that he was "crapping" himself and was worried about the new show. It seemed to go well though and later the former Top Gear host tweeted "I loved today".

South Africa is the first destination of the 12-show series and the trio will heading to other locations such as Germany, America and North Yorkshire. The new show will debut on Amazon Prime in the autumn but no release date has been confirmed. I am really looking forward to seeing what the guys come up and autumn cannot come quickly enough.
