I must admit I've never been crazy about the 911, not sure why. Maybe it's because the style has changed as many times as a tramp's clothing, or maybe it's because I think the style of the newer ones is a bit, well, bland.
I apologise Porsche fans, it's nothing personal, 911s just don't really excite me. That's not unless they are the older models which seem to have more character, but then again I think the majority of older cars have a character. This leads us on to a classic 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera to be offered by Hexagon Modern Classics.
Presented in a soulful Garnet Red, this 911 comes with an ultra-low mileage - just 4,429 miles have been covered in this 31-year-old sportscar. This left-hand example is immaculate inside and out, anyone would think the car has travelled through time to get to the showroom. Powering the 911 Carrera is a 3.2 litre flat-six engine which produces 231bhp and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
I may not be a fan of the overall 911 styling but I do love the period black 5-spoke alloys
Priced at £84,995, the 911 comes with full service history, original handwork, jack and toolkit. Technology and driver comforts include air conditioning, electric windows, cruise control and Blaupunkt Tucson Cassette/Radio, complete with 60 Watt amplifier and graphic equaliser.
Paul Michaels, chairman of Hexagon Classics, said: “This is a massive opportunity for someone to purchase a true collector’s item. It is always difficult to find 911s of this era with low mileage – they were built to be used daily after all – but to find a Carrera 3.2 with less than 5,000 miles on the clock is almost unheard of. This model has been perfectly preserved and is ideal for a Porsche enthusiast who wants to enjoy the raw 911 experience.”
