The M5 is a car that has never been short on power but the Germans have decided that the current model needs even more performance in the shape of the M5 Competition Edition. Just 200 will be made and you’ll need deep pockets to own one as it costs just over £100,000.
Power has been increased from 560bhp to 600bhp and there is a new torque figure of 700Nm of torque. This translates to a new 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds – half a second down from the standard M5’s 4.4 seconds. The top speed remains unchanged however – the M5 CE will still offer a limited top speed of 155mph.
That looks more like navy than carbon black if you ask me
Speaking of limited, the M5 CE comes with an electronically controlled limited slip differential that has been tweaked to offer sportier feedback. Other modifications include stiffer responses from the springs and electronically controlled dampers as well we thicker anti-roll bars. As always, there are three driving modes on offer in the new model – comfort, sport and sport plus.
The M5 CE comes in just two colours – Mineral White and Carbon Black – and the cabin is trimmed in black merino leather. Other features helping to set the M5 Competition apart from the normal model include a black kidney grille plus big 20” alloys finished in jet back. Each one of the 200 will feature an engraving the interior trim displaying which model number it is.
Other features on the M5 CE include a rear spoiler, rear diffusor and wing mirrors finished in carbon fibre as well as technology including heated seats, LED headlights, Bang & Olufsen sound system and reversing assist camera. The new model is on sale now and is priced at £100,995.
