Which? Announces The Most (And Least) Reliable Cars In The UK

Finding a reliable car can be tricky and can lead to a great deal of research. Let's face it, no-one wants a car that spends more time in the garage than it does actually on the road. Thankfully Which? is on hand to inform the nation on which car brands offer the most in terms of reliability and which ones fall short.

The annual review from Which? doesn't throw up too many surprises but there is an interesting development at fourth place. The top five is almost completely Japanese apart from a brand from Romania, any guesses who it is?

For those of you who said Dacia, give yourself a pat on the back. It's hard to believe I know but Dacia came fourth place in the top five most reliable cars money can buy. Not bad for a company that is able to offer cheap cars such as the Sandero and the Duster. Which? scored the Romanian firm 4 stars for reliability and it sits below Honda, Toyota and Lexus - the only brand to be awarded 5 stars.

Dacia has proved you don't need to splash the cash to get reliability.

Making up fifth place in the table was Suzuki, almost completing a clean sweep for the Japanese. The least reliable cars all score 2 stars and as you can imagine, it's quite predictable. Even to this day Alfa Romeo are not known for its reliabliity and that rings true here as the Italian firm find itself fifth bottom.

Underneath Alfa sits Land Rover, Smart, Chevrolet and Saab, though it's worth noting both Chevrolet and Saab are no longer available to buy in the UK - much to the relief of those looking for dependable cars. I'm surprised Smart fall in to the bottom five, especially as it is owned by Mercedes-Benz but Dacia has proved you don't need to spend a lot of money to get a good level of reliability.

Do you own a car from the brand above? Do you agree with the results?
