Vauxhall has today released teaser pictures of the upcoming new flagship model - the Insignia Grand Sport. It's hard to get a real gauge of the car will look like as it's dressed all in camouflage as it goes through its final development stages.
The new car will be unveiled at next year's Geneva Motor Show, so that means we have about around half a year to wait to see the finished product. So although it's not known what the car will look completely look like, Vauxhall has released some teaser details about the new model.
First off, it will be a five-door hatchback built on a new platform which has a longer wheelbase (9cm) than its predecessor but the car itself is only 5.5cm longer. The car will also be 1cm wider but 3cm shorter to help give it a more dynamic, sportier presence on the road. It will be lighter too - the boffins at Vauxhall have been able to shave 175kg off the new model which more than two of me so that's quite a weight saving. Not that I'm fat or anything...
“Vauxhall is raising its game even further with the launch of the new Insignia Grand Sport,” said Rory Harvey, Vauxhall’s Chairman and Managing Director. “It will set new standards for design, efficiency, technology and connectivity when it debuts next year at the Geneva Motor Show.”
