Criminals better watch out as Vauxhall has announced its new police car factory has opened in Luton and is ready to produce cars to help fight crime. If that wasn't enough, the new facility is now the largest of its kind in Europe.
The new facility will be responsible for converting 2,5000 cars and vans each year for not only the police force but the fire brigade and the ambulance service, creating 50 new jobs in the process. What's better still is 90% of the materials used for converting the vehicles will be sourced locally, therefore supporting UK businesses.
The cars to be converted there include the Corsa, Astra, Insignia and even the Mokka, whilst the vans will include the Combo, Movano and Vivaro vans. Vauxhall is the only car brand to offer a one-stop shop for blue light vehicles and it's currently the number one supplier with a 70% share of competitive segments.
“Through our flexible production facility, Vauxhall is able to offer a one-stop shop purchasing experience to UK emergency services,” said Dick Ellam, Vauxhall’s Manager, Special Vehicles.
“We can deliver a wide choice of car and van models, specifically designed and rigorously-tested to meet the stringent demands of our emergency services. We can also supply turn-key vehicle solutions that enable rapid turnaround of replacement vehicles, plus we can now offer a unique in-house de-commissioning and re-marketing service.”
