Audi Adds Quattro To TDI TT

Now that winter is here, you can almost gaurantee the roads will be wetter, covered in grit and possibly even covered in snow. So it seems timely that Audi has announced it will be adding its legendary quattro system to the Audi TT fitted with the 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine.

Assured Performance

The diesel unit not only offers a decent level of economy, but with 181bhp on tap it's able to offer some decent performance. 0-62mph comes in 6.7 seconds with 320Nm of torque on offer and a top speed of 145mph. A roadster is also available, which will have slightly lower performance. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed S Tronic automatic gearbox and of course, quattro four-wheel drive.

The quattro system works the Drive Select system which comes as standard in many Audi models, allowing drivers to choose what kind of drive they want. The modes include Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, Efficiency and Individual. Audi's magnetic dampers are also hand to maximise dynamic handling. The quattro system uses a electro-hydraulic multi-plate to help distribute the torque to both axles, but for everyday driving it will normally power the front wheels only.

Both the coupé and the roadster will be available to order early next year with prices announced nearer the time. Deliveries will come shortly after that in the spring.
