Audi's Q series has seen a fair bit of success since its introduction last decade and now the German brand is welcoming another member to the family - the Q8. At this moment in time the details are a bit few and far between, but some sketches have been released by the brand to give us a taste of what's to come.
I'm sure you'll agree it looks pretty good, but then I think all the Q series models look smart so I suppose it would be foolish to expect anything else from the Q8. The SUV which is to be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show next month will feature coupé styling with the size and practicality of an SUV and as mentioned it looks pretty sharp.
Audi has actually design elements used on the Ur-quattro from the 1980s although I can't really see the resemblance myself, other than the iconic four rings which adorn the front of every Audi model. However, the similarities are to be found in the profile rather than the front end. The wheelarches are flared in typical quattro fashion and the flat C-pillars also hark back the iconic 80s model.
“With the Audi Q8 concept, we have created a new spearhead within our Q model line. Its design strongly evokes sportiness and prestige,” declared Audi Head of Design Marc Lichte. “What’s more, we believe an important aspect of this showcar is that it offers a spacious interior with four equally comfortable seats, even with the flat roof line.”
