Weekend Window Shopping: Ford Fiesta XR2

Seeing as the Ford Fiesta has been able to take the crown of the nation's best-selling car (once again), I thought it would be fitting to include said model in this week's edition of WWS. However, this is not just any Fiesta, this is an XR2 from the mad decade that was the 1980s. On sale from Sterling Performance, this may just be the best XR2 money can buy at the moment.

This model, finished in Diamond White, comes from 1984 to be exact. The mileage has not been specified but it's clear this car has been looked after as it looks absolutely spotless! Now it won't take you long to notice that it's had a few tweaks here and there, the most obvious of which is the whopping big red rollcage.

That's not the only change though - the original 1.6 litre has been ditched to make way for the larger 2.0 litre Zetec engine, which has been remapped to produce a very healthy 200bhp with 220 lb ft of torque. Performance figures have not been stated but you can imagine this little pocket rocket moves like you-know-what off a shovel.

Other performance mods include a boost gauges, lowered suspension, bigger intercooler, silicone hoses and an induction kit. It also comes with refurbished RS2000 alloys at an extra cost, or you can opt to re-fit the original 'pepperpot' alloys that came standard when the car rolled off the production line.

The car has had 12 former keepers and it comes with a new MOT so there's no need to worry about that. The price? It's £6,490 and to be honest, it's not as much as I imagined, considering the condition and the amount of work that has gone in to it.
